Used Car MAKEOVER

Used car makeover? Alright today on Repairs101 I’ve got a grocery list of jobs you can do for cheap that will help improve the selling price of your car when you go to sell it.

In case you didn’t see it – last episode I installed a new tail light lens and fixed the liftgate strut that was broken off.

This episode of Repairs101 is sponsored by PRINCESS AUTO. That’s where I got this amazing dual head LED work light.

So this car’s been up and down the back roads of British Columbia. In and out of some shopping malls and the odd bah. And the odd bad neighborhood

So I’ll start off with this very popular subject: Hazy, cloudy headlights. Influencers have speculated that you can clear them up with toothpaste or baking soda. Which may work great, but look at the results I got from rubbing compound and a little ARMOR ALL.

Detailing Paint

Speaking of RUBBING COMPOUND it is absolutely one of my most depended upon paint supplies. Just look at how it reduces scuffs and marks that you would think were permanent.

Door jambs and hinges are usually filthy so use a rag and a toothbrush.

Now this isn’t paint damage. These are plastic films molded onto the… these are plastic films molded onto the body flare to protect it from rocks and road debris. You just need a heat gun, a plastic scraper, some acetone, a little paint thinner and some patience.

Use a brush

Again, this car has been in the RAINFOREST so there’s moss growing on the south side no matter which way you’re headed. Use brushes and soapy water.

I like to use compressed air before I use the vacuum to get the worst out of the corners and tight spaces.

The drivers’ side floor mat was hooped! So I grabbed my GORILLA tape and I did a quick fix just for appearances.

You want to wipe down all the plastic. Inside and out and under the hood with ARMOR ALL or a similar UV protectant.

Spend a few minutes under the hood wiping surfaces down and blowing leaves and dirt away with compressed air.

I didn’t remove any dents from this car due to the shoestring budget I was working with.  But it still turned out pretty good.
